Taking advantage of international and cross-strait cooperation, Beijing Academy of Science and Technology (BJAST) initiated the annual forum named “International Forum on Senior Care Science and Innovation(SCSI)” to provide knowledge exchange and cooperation platform for scholars, researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from different disciplines and backgrounds, so as to promote senior service knowledge integration and collaborative innovation and make a contribution to tackling the challenge of global demographic change.
Worldwide Technological innovation is entering a new development cycle. A new generation of information technology represented by the Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, etc. is developing, and a new technology system for the future is accelerating establishing. In the elderly care sector, the integration of a new generation of information technology with new elderly care concepts such as active ageing and healthy ageing is fundamentally changing the world's elderly care model and smart health care industry. To promote this innovation, we need the integration and collaborative innovation of multi-disciplinary knowledge worldwide and build an open, transparent, inclusive, and non-discriminatory industry innovation and development ecosystem.
At present, fighting the covid-19 and coping with the global challenges brought by the epidemic are still huge challenges faced by all countries in the world. At the same time, covid-19 also promoted scientific and technological innovation. A large number of cutting-edge technologies have been applied to epidemic prevention and control. A large number of cutting-edge technologies have been applied to epidemic prevention and control; some new business formats, as well as new work and living habits have been cultivated; services such as network meetings, telemedicine, online education, shared platforms, collaborative working are widely used. In the field of elderly care, remote visits based on smart health and elderly care technology, real-time risk monitoring for the elderly living alone, epidemic science popularization, health promotion, psychological relief, accurate temperature measurement, as well as purchasing of vegetables, daily necessities, common medicines, and epidemic prevention products have all played an important role. Therefore, the theme of this forum is determined as "Smart health ageing under the background of COVID-19 and new technology period". The purpose is to exchange new developments in the field of smart health and elderly care in the year of covid-19 and in the technology cycle, including new scenarios, new demands, new technologies, new policies, new standards, etc. Affected by the covid-19, SCSI 2020 will be held online. The content of the forum is still set up as the orginal forum. It will last for two days. Nearly 50 experts and scholars from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Brazil, India, Mainland China and Taiwan Region, will diliver keynote speeches.
